Bookings now being taken. Heavy stockings of top quality rainbows, fish up to high double figures and a large head of overwintered fish plus superb wild browns. Fish will be feeding on sticklebacks, and small dark buzzers on warmer days. Recommend floating or intermediate lines/slow sinkers. Best patterns zonkers, minkies, any fry imitations and small buzzer patterns in black to olive.

Caistron Lake is a mature, picturesque 50 acre lake, spring fed with crystal clear water. It is well stocked with rainbow trout, blue trout and also contains a large head of wild brown trout, creating a unique and memorable fishing experience. We welcome all anglers, from novices to experts, and know you’ll enjoy fishing in this well stocked, scenic lake, near Rothbury, Northumberland.
Caistron Trout Fishery offers:
- Fishing opportunities to catch rainbow trout, blue trout or wild brown trout from 2lbs to 15lbs plus.
- Fly fishing or worm fishing days, half-days or evenings.
- 40 acre fly fishing lake
- 8 acre worm fishing lake
- Fishing tackle hire and boat hire.
- Tuition – Beginners can learn how to cast, find out what equipment they need and what flies work. More experienced anglers can get coaching to improve their skills and get tips on the flies to use and the best locations on Caistron Lake.
- Fishing on 2 miles of the River Coquet where you have the opportunity to catch salmon, sea trout and wild brown trout (in season).
- A well stocked lake which is re-stocked on a weekly basis and has a large stock of resident, over-wintered rainbow and brown trout of superb quality
Caistron Lake Nature Reserve
Caistron Trout Fishery is part of Caistron Lake, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), due to the great diversity of flora and fauna. Parts of Caistron Lake are a Nature Reserve and are out of bounds to all anglers.
