Due to all the rain and cooler weather over the past few weeks the water temp has remained cool for the time of year and fish are continuing to feed well. Water clarity remains excellent and although we have some weed, cutting is underway and there is plenty of open water to fish. we have had doubles out every week and expect the fishing to get better as Autumn progresses. Top flies, muddlers, daddies, crunchers, snail imitations, cdc's and fry patterns. Thanks to the lads from Hardys who brought over 3 junior fishermen and gave them an excellent days tuition, resulting in about a dozen fish being caught, the best a superb 12lb specimen.

I would like to apologise for the lack of reports on the web site. I intend to put a report in every week. The fishing at the start of the season was mixed & slow at times due to very low water temperature. Things have really picked up now, the Swallows and Sandmartins arrived last weekend and as if on cue, big hatches of buzzers appeared from the lake. The water temperature is up by a few degrees so we expect plenty of fly life from now on.
There have been some excellent catches recently; Tony Fox from Highfield returned 12 including a 14lb rainbow and a 6 1/2 wild brown. Mark Bowen had 11 fish in 4 hrs including one of 12lb & 2 at approx 5lb. Most of these fish fell to Zonkas. Congratulations go to Bill Frances who returned 16 trout to 5lb mainly on Dawsons Olives. Flies for the coming weel; Lures are still doing well but with more fly life coming off, buzzers, diawl bachs & small dries are all doing well

Happy new year to you all. Well i didn't think things could be as bad as last year but yet again i have been proven wrong! The atrocious weather conditions began in the start of December with 3 foot of snow in the Rothbury area, then came the hard frost and the lake is still completely frozen as i type this.
The official re-opening is Saturday 26th Feb, bookings are now being taken, call 07944178045 to confirm your place. Weather permitting we expect a bumper weekend with large stocking of top quality Welham Park rainbows going in plus many over wintered fish.
Hope to see you then
